We Are Lutherans

First and foremost we
are Christians - from a Lutheran perspective! What does this mean?
We emphasize:
-
GRACE We cannot earn God's
love, it is a freely given gift
-
FAITH A faith relationship with
Jesus Christ assures us of God's forgiveness
-
WORSHIP When we worship, when we
receive Holy Communion, we are strengthened for daily faith and life
-
WELCOME All of God's diverse
children are welcome here
-
GROWTH In response to God's love,
we strive to grow in faith and trust
-
SERVICE We are called to use our
resources to care for the needs of others
-
MINISTRY OF ALL In baptism, we are
all made ministers of Christ, a call lived out in daily life
The First Lutheran Vision
 |
We will
proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ, especially to those
outside our church. By being faithful to God’s Word and
Lutheran doctrine, through a strong and progressive emphasis in
worship on Word and Sacrament, music, the arts, and technology,
and with a heart for outreach and evangelism, we can, and will
reach new generations for Christ.
|
 |
We will care for one
another in Christian love. Through expanded caring,
visitation, hospitality, fellowship and small group ministry,
everyone, young or old, member or non-member alike, will be
welcomed, supported, and nurtured as a meaningful part of this
church and the Body of Christ.
|
 |
We will strengthen
Christian Education for all. Christian growth through
learning is fundamental. No matter one's age or situation
in life, we will partner with all on their journey toward a
deepening of their faith.
|
 |
We will continue to develop Youth and Family ministry. For our
children to stay in the faith as servants of Christ throughout
their lives, they must be supported and nurtured, not only by
their church family, but at home as well.
|
 |
We will become better stewards. Through prayer and
learning, we will seek to grow in the sharing of our time,
talent, and treasure in service to God and others.
|
 |
We will grow where God has planted us by...
...addressing property maintenance concerns, accessibility
issues, and additional space needed for worship, education, youth
ministry, administration, and parking.
...seeking new opportunities to be in shared ministry with Good
Shepherd Lutheran Home, Dana College, Memorial Community
Hospital, the Nebraska Synod, the ELCA, and others.
...beginning a new congregation someday.
